DAY 01 - JANUARY 17
Departure from U.S.

DAY 02 - JANUARY 18
Arrive at Cairo International Airport, where A&K Egypt Tour
Coordinator will assist you with all customs and visa formalities.
Transfer: Transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel in Giza.
Check-in: A&K Tour coordinator will assist you with check-in at your hotel.
You will meet our Egyptian guide, Hazem El Gabry.
Overnight: At your hotel in Cairo (D)

 

DAY 03 - JANUARY 19
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast at hotel.
Today we visit the Egyptian Museum and the Citadel of Old Cairo.Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, exhibiting over 120,000 objects in its 107 halls; it comprises the world’s greatest collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts. Marvel at the many rooms filled with golden treasures extracted from the world-famous tomb of boy king, Tutankhamen
Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will visit a world-famous Egyptian art and jewelry bazaar; as well as papyrus gallery. Dinner on your own. Evening lecture with William.

DAY 04 - JANUARY 20
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast at hotel.
Saqqara: Today, we visit the stepped pyramid of Saqqara, built by the high priest, architect, physician and magus, Imhotep. Saqqara is said to be the oldest known of Egypt’s 107 pyramids. Although the original structure was a burial chamber 28 meters underground, Imhotep enlarged it several times to eventually reach a six tiered rectangle 60 meters high.

 

Saqqara seems to have been the first area where limestone was employed, not only for the outer casing of the pyramid but also to cover interior walls.
We will also visit the newly opened Imhotep Museum, which houses rare and mysterious artifacts from the Old Kingdom capital of Memphis.
Lunch: We will enjoy lunch at the  oasis-like Saqqara Palm Club, which has an amazing view of the stepped pyramid and Saqqara village.
After lunch, we will visit one of the village carpet schools famous for its silken weavings and traditional handicrafts.
Dinner on your own. After dinner, lecture with William.

DAY 05 - JANUARY 21
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast at hotel.
Special visit by private permission to the Sun temples of the 5th Dynasty: Abu Sir, and Abu Gurob. We will have an archaeologist overseeing the site as our guide today.
Followed by lunch at local restaurant. Later, we will visit a local perfumery to experience and sample some famous Egyptian essential oils and perfumes.
Dinner on your own.

DAY 06 - JANUARY 22 – Cruise Day 1
Breakfast:
Buffet breakfast at hotel.
Check-out:
An A&K Egypt Tour Coordinator will be on hand to assist you with all check-out procedures.
Transfer:
Your A&K Egypt Tour Coordinator will
escort you to Cairo Domestic airport by air-
conditioned vehicle for your Aswan flight approximately one hour flight).
Those flying to Abu Simbel will continue on with A&K guide to Abu Simbel and meet the rest of the group later in the day aboard our boat.

 

Transfer: Transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to your A&K cruise, the Sunboat IV.
After lunch on board, we will visit the gorgeous island temple of  Isis  at  Philae, called the “jewel” of the Nile.  Here, we can spend time in the healing   sanctuary of Isis,  Mistress of Magic,  as well as the chanting rooms dedicated to the deified Imhotep. Philae Temple was the last functioning temple in Egypt and was used well into Roman times. We will see evidence of what may, indeed, be a Templar altar in Egypt.

DAY 07 - JANUARY 23
Breakfast: Breakfast buffet on board.
Philae Temple: Take a short motorboat ride to visit the romantic and majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilka.

Cooking lesson: Egyptian cooking lesson will be presented on board while you cruise to Kom Ombo..
Lunch: Lunch on board, while you cruise to Kom Ombo.

 

Kom Ombo Temple: Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek.  The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank.
Afternoon Tea: Afternoon tea will be served while you cruise to Edfu.
Edfu Temple: This evening, explore the largest and most completely preserved Pharaonic – albeit Greek-built – temple in Egypt, the extraordinary Temple of Horus at Edfu
Dinner: Tonight’s dinner on board will be an “Egyptian Night” costume party for all guests, with a chance to dress up in traditional Egyptian “galabeyas”. Dinner will be a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialities, followed by oriental music and dancing for everyone.

DAY 08 - JANUARY 24
Breakfast: Breakfast buffet on board.
Morning: Valley of the Kings & Queens: We begin our day with a visit to the West Bank of Luxor.
Hatshepsut Temple: Rising out of the desert plain in a series of
terraces, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (ancient Egypt’s only female Pharaoh) merges with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it, as if nature herself had built this extraordinary monument

 

Medinet Habu Temple:
We will make our final stop on the West Bank at Medinet Habu, one of the most important temples during the New Kingdom, spanning the 18th to the 26th dynasties.
LUNCH: ON BOARD SUN BOAT IV.
AFTER LUNCH, afternoon visit to KARNAK AND LUXOR TEMPLES.

DAY 09 - JANUARY 25
Check-out: After breakfast, our A&K Egypt Tour Coordinator
will be on hand to assist with check-out from the the Sun Boat IV. A& K will assist us with transferring to our 5-star hotel on the Nile, The Steinberger Hotel.
We will have a free day to explore Luxor on our own in Luxor. Evening Lecture with William Henry at the hotel. Overnight: Steinberger Hotel ( B )

 

DAY 10 - JANUARY 26
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast at Steinberger Hotel in Luxor
Dendera &Abydos (Box lunch provided).

EARLY wake-up call for our 2 hour drive to Dendera to visit the beautiful Ptolemaic Temple dedicated to Hathor, Goddess of beauty, love, music, and astrology. In her chapel of the New Year, dedicated to the star Sirius, we will see one of the most beautiful depictions of the sky Goddess Nut, the Galactic Mother.
 

Inscriptions at Dendera speak of the original site being built at a time “when the gods walked on Earth”, and Dendera housed one of the most important healing centers of ancient Egypt. We also have time to explore the initiation crypts and tunnels beneath the temple. We then continue on to the Temple of Seti I at Abydos, the “mecca” of ancient Egypt and the necropolis for pre-dynastic kings and Pharaohs
dating back to the fourth millennium BC. This magnificent 19th Dynasty Temple has some of the most
exquisite artwork in all of Egypt. Abydos is the site of the enigmatic monument, known as the Osirion

DAY 11 - JANUARY 27
Check out: A&K Tour coordinator will assist with check out and escort us to Luxor Airport for Cairo flight.
Transfer: Transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to
Meridien Pyramids Hotel, Giza.

Check-in:  A&K Tour coordinator will assist you with check-in at your hotel.Enjoy the remainder of the day at the Pyramids and Sphinx on the Giza Plateau,

 

the Great Pyramid being the only survivor of the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World".We will view the gorgeous panorama of the Giza plateau, as well as the Valley Temple of the Sphinx. After dinner, group “briefing” before pyramid initiation.

DAY 12 - JANUARY 28
Pre-dawn wake-up call for Private initiation time inside Great Pyramid and the paws of the Sphinx.
Free afternoon to explore the Giza plateau.
Farewell dinner.

DAY 13 - JANUARY 29
Check-out of hotel and transfer to Cairo International Airport with A&K Representative, who will assist you with international flights.
(Note: Some international flights have early am departures, so you may be transferring to the airport on the night of Jan 28th depending on your flight).
