Every month we have new and full moons, but eclipses have a “fated” feeling to them. They get us to move out of our comfort zones, so we can evolve and grow to our next stage of development. Three major eclipses 2 solar and a total lunar eclipse) have taken place within the last 30 days pointing to an incredibly important “galactic window”.
On July 1, 2011 at there is 4:54am EDT there a New Moon partial Solar Eclipse in the sign of Cancer. This eclipse is only visible off the coast of Antarctica where the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. The oceans rising and falling, as well as the conditions regarding the world’s water sources and supplies will become major issues over the coming months. This Solar Eclipse takes place with the Sun and Moon together at 9 degrees in the sign of Cancer. Cancer is the feminine water sign of the Great Goddess, the “womb of life and rules over motherhood and family, home, security, our hereditary karmic “roots” and inherited psychological patterns. The sign of Cancer (through its rulership of the moon) also rules our connection to our akashic records and past life memories. The union of the Sun and Moon is an integration of male/female polarities and signifies a cathartic build-up and final resolution to emotional and personal issues, especially in our closest relationships. Some of these issues may be long-standing or karmic ones involving family and significant others; some may involve our personal security and physical well-being. But no matter what the occurrences, we are being asked to rise to the occasion and make decisions based on maturity, wisdom and experience, rather than habitual, unconscious responses. When a Solar Eclipse closely touches a planet in your birth chart, it signifies a change in some important area of your life. You may be feeling an inner restlessness as destiny is working to create a new direction in your life. This eclipse is the final one in a 19 year cycle.  You are closing a major chapter in your “Book of Life”. The last time there was a solar eclipse at this degree of Cancer was 1992; there will not be another one again for many years. Think back to the personal themes in your life during the summer of 1992. What progress has been made in your life regarding these issues?  What needs to be surrendered? How will you move forward from here? Eclipse periods are extremely active (both before and after). Synchronistic events and a sense of the “speeding up” of time will increase.  Some of us will “lose” our sense of time altogether, as we experience a new multidimensional awareness of time and space. This is nothing to fear. Remember when all we had were old black and white TV sets? Now, we view “reality” shows on bigger than life, plasma TV. We are moving into a state of heightened consciousness, which we call the “Shift”; this is no longer metaphorical, but a fact. That our perception of reality will move accordingly is also a fact. The sign of Cancer is the “gateway” into life experience on this planet. We are being asked to clear away old karmic conditioning before being “rebirthed” into the frequency of Oneness and Light.

POLITICALLY SPEAKING:
In astrology, Solar Eclipses predict beginnings and usually
manifest as outer world events. They predict the rise and fall of rulers. This July 1st Solar Eclipse is a volatile combination of energies. We are at an evolutionary turning point. This Cancerian Solar Eclipse is the final chapter of the Cardinal Square involving 5 planets: the Sun, Moon, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto signifying major “breakthroughs” or” breakdowns”. It has been six months since unprecedented revolutions rocked the Middle East and Africa. We have had shocking cataclysmic weather patterns, storms, and earth upheavals in areas of the globe that were previously not considered trouble spots. The outer planets of Uranus, Pluto and Saturn are key players in the massive wave of transformation sweeping the planet at this time. Uranus, the planet of chaos, as well as liberation, stations direct on July 9th and is in retrograde motion until December 10 (6 months from this eclipse).It is now time to assimilate what the year’s wake of eclipses has brought to humanity’s attention. Pluto exactly opposes the Sun in this “Cross”. We will continue to deal with our collective shadow and power issues until we have faced and cleared our own personal fears. Our leaders only mirror our collective mind-set; our relationship struggles mirror our inner male/female conflicts. In this time of miracles and madness, as we heal one point, the other is reciprocally relieved. We have never faced more intense challenges, both personally and collectively. But we have never before had more courage, vision and the cosmic “window” to transform and heal them. The planets Uranus and Pluto were last together in the 1960’s, and turbulent and explosive energies may be unleashed once more in order to propel humanity into its next evolutionary phase. In the 60’s we were in the throes of a massive cultural and political revolution. An entire generation was told to “tune in; turn on; and drop out”. The “green” movement had its birth as young people turned to communal living and alternative health modalities; the doors of inner perception were opened by mind-expanding drugs, as well as indigenous teachers and Eastern mysticism. For better or worse, the seeds sown in the 60’s are now full grown.

NEW MOON MEDITATION:
New Moons are the time for sowing seeds and setting new intentions. Take a few moments from your busy day (or evening) to light a white candle, and allow all that is “heavy” or toxic to leave your body If you have a favorite essential oil, anoint your Third Eye at this time. Write down on a piece of white paper all that you would like to manifest in your life over the next 2 weeks. Then project yourself into the future and write down how you “see” yourself in the next 6 months. What would you like to manifest? Relax and imagine yourself meditating in a vast temple bathed in Light.  This temple is your body. Feel the Light of the Great Central White Sun beaming down through the gateway of the Star Sirius into this temple and opening your Crown chakra. Feel the diamond white light enter your Third Eye and spin like a tiny sun. Allow this spinning light to turn into crystalline liquid bathing your mid-brain and passing through your entire body. Immerse yourself in liquid light. Breathe it in. Allow a few minutes to “float” in this womb of Light. You are re-birthing as a Galactic Being!
