FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN JULY 3- 2012:

As I mentioned in the last update, the Summer Solstice, June 20, 2012 began the countdown to December 21, 201, a major intersection of multidimensional timelines. If you feel like you are sitting in the front row of a multi-plex theatre being bombarded with several films at once, you’re right! “Reality” as we “think” we know it, is not all that it appears to be. In the past few days, two major seemingly unrelated (on the surface) news stories caught my attention emphasizing that we are living through extraordinary times. This stunning scientific discovery was just announced : “After decades of careful experiment, physicists say they have found the "strongest indication to date" to prove the existence of a subatomic particle so important to the understanding of space, time and matter that physicists have named it the “god particle”; as well as mind-boggling descriptions of natural crises: “Since June 24th (see my last month’s June Astrological Update) more than 1,900 heat records were broken in the United States, and states of emergency have been declared in Ohio, Maryland, Washington, West Virginia and Virginia.” We may play at being “god”, but we cannot rationalize away Mother Nature, it seems.
Full Moon in Capricorn/Sun in Cancer
The Full Moon occurs on July 3rd at 12 degrees Capricorn and exactly opposite the Sun at 12 degrees Cancer. (the opposite pairing will occur on the full moon December 28, 2012 following the winter solstice). The Capricorn Full Moon reflects the outer world of structure and form. It is the dutiful, practical, material Earth sign, which represents “Father Time”. Capricorn represents order, stability and the rules of the realm. Cancer, its opposite sign represents our inner emotional world; the primal water sign symbolizing motherhood, the womb, The Great Goddess, and the unconscious realm of dreams. This polarity reflects our inner male and female archetypes: our animus and anima. Will love and compassion, creativity and intuition make a “comeback” in our lives and society? Or will we be forever shackled by the chains of materiality, greed and power? Will the patriarchal, judgmental religious, political and cultural belief systems of the past continue to pollute the Earth and destroy our quality of life? Or is there a “new order” birthing based on freedom, equality and justice for all? Interesting themes to ponder as we prepare to celebrate the birth of the USA.
PLANETARY PICTURES
Mars is at zero degrees Libra opposite Uranus. This alignment forms a Cardinal Grand Cross with the Sun in Cancer and the Moon in Capricorn. It promises an extremely volatile and active full moon period…you can expect even more surprises around the 4th of July, as the birth chart of the US is directly impacted by this Grand Cross.
Mercury Retrograde
Mercury will turn retrograde in the sign of Virgo on July 14th until August 8th creating sudden and usual communication problems, especially in telecommunications: satellites, cell phones, and computer access. Purchases of major electronics are usually not advised, as you may not be satisfied with the product. If you do make a purchase, make sure you keep the receipt. If you are traveling during that time, plan well in advance; make extra copies of important documents; check and recheck your details, and try to travel light whenever possible. Check your car for any maintenance issues. It’s usually not advisable to schedule any important medical procedures during Mercury retrograde, but if you must, then be sure to get a second opinion before you schedule it. The exception to the rule: if you have a recurring issue from the past that you must address. Sometimes people will reappear from your past, especially if they were co-workers. Mercury retrograde in the sign of Virgo is an excellent time for editing, rewriting, organizing files or going over lists. If you have had some work on the “back burner” for awhile, this is a good time to dust it off the shelf and take a look.
Uranus Square Pluto
“Revolution For Evolution” is the message of the Uranus and Pluto duo. If it sounds like a song from the 60’s, you’re right. That was the last time we had Uranus/Pluto transits of this caliber. It will take some time (until 2014) for this duo to completely shake up, tear down and blast through the vestiges of OLD patterns of security, belief systems, and/or emotional comfort zones which may be blocking us from achieving spiritual, emotional and physical integration. With Pluto and Uranus, you get shaken out of your fantasy. Individuals, as well as nations, will confront their “shadows” …secrets will be exposed…institutions will not be allowed to outlive their usefulness; but even in the midst of radical change, we all have a choice as to how we will create our reality. Uranus in Aries acts first and thinks later. On a good day, it is idealism spurred into action....the Knight in Shining Armor. On a bad day, Uranus can be a rebellious thug. Pluto in Capricorn demands deconstruction of the old form, not merely its rehabilitation. In its most positive aspect, Pluto WILL change the system. On a bad day, it can annihilate it. The Uranus/Pluto dynamic is also intensified by the fact that both planets will be in retrograde motion after July 13th urging us re-evaluate our past actions to see where we need to break free (Uranus), and what we need to release and transform (Pluto) in our lives. They affect everyone’s lives; no one is immune. However, how we handle what astrologers call “outer” planet transits can depend on how where they fall in our birth charts. Some of us who have cardinal planets (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) may feel this Uranus/Pluto square more than the other signs. If you are in a relationship, and both partners are experiencing this type of challenging transit, it is sometimes helpful to know “the timing” of it…this too shall pass! Change is as inevitable as it is cyclical, but destruction for the sake of destruction is not really evolution. We are now at the point in our humanity where we are “sowing and reaping” at the same time…instant karma?? We cannot create better “systems” if we are full of fear, hate and jealousy. Genocide does not create a safe society. Greed does not stabilize an economy. If our intent is to put compassion and heart into our economic and political systems, then this can occur only when we are willing to take the risk of releasing what has been “endured” in the past for the sake of embracing what is possible in the future.
Historically Speaking:
The Sun at this Full Moon conjoins the Star Sirius (the brightest star in the sky) at 13 degrees Cancer. In ancient Egypt, Sirius was considered the “home” of the Goddess Isis. In the ancient Mystery School of Isis, she was considered to be one with the star, Sirius, her emblem. Her temples in Egypt were aligned to the rising of Sirius, and its rising was celebrated as the New Year and her birthday. At this Full Moon, we awaken to the Light of our spiritual Sun, Sirius.
FULL MOON MEDITATION with Isis, The Great Mother Goddess
Take a few moments from your busy evening and look at the light of the Full Moon, if possible. If you cannot view the moon, imagine it in your mind’s eye. Allow the light to enter your Third Eye. Then, light a white candle, get into a comfortable position, and allow all that is “heavy” or toxic to leave your body. If you have a favorite essential oil, anoint your Third Eye at this time. (You may prefer to do this meditation after a relaxing bath, or being in nature, or a quiet place in your home. If you work with a special crystal, the full moon is a good time to reactivate and recharge it. Visualize a blue lotus extending its stem from your crown to the blue/white star group, Sirius, the “home” of Isis. As you connect this “star cord”, the Goddess Isis appears before you wearing a white linen gown and a blue cloak trimmed with gold. Her forehead is encircled with a band of gold and a 5-pointed star of lapis lazuli sits over her third eye. Her gaze is deep, but loving. She communicates with you telepathically. She asks that you to meditate on all that you are thankful for in your life right now. It can be as brief or as detailed as you like. She then asks that you write down on a piece of white paper all that you wish to release or let go of in your life over the next 2 weeks. (You can also write this down in your journal or diary). Then, she asks that you project yourself into the future and write down how you “see” yourself in the next 6 months. What would you like to manifest? You can meditate on this for a few minutes. Then, Isis leads you into her temple, a vast crystalline hall bathed in Light. The full moon is beaming down through the top of the temple which is open to the night sky. The light of the Star Sirius also shines into her temple entering your Crown chakra. Feel the diamond white light of Sirius and the soft white moonlight mix together like an “elixir” of light and bathe your crown chakra and Allow this crystalline liquid to bathe your mid-brain and pass through your entire body. Immerse yourself in liquid light. Breathe it in. Allow a few
minutes to “float” in this womb of Light. Follow your dreams!
