Happy Spring!! I have just returned home from Egypt, and it was truly an amazing trip. As always, words do not truly do justice in conveying the magic and mystery of the “peak” experiences that occur on this type of spiritual journey, but this photo taken at the Temple of Abydos speaks for itself.

NEW MOON IN TAURUS APRIL, 24TH

The New Moon falls at 5 degrees Taurus on April 24th at 11:24pm EDT. The sign of Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, which governs our relationships, our appreciation of beauty and our sensuality, as well as our connection to Mother Earth and her abundant gifts. The sign of Taurus is also about nourishing and taking care of our physical bodies, our security and material values, and our financial systems, as well as the very land we walk upon.

This New Moon asks us to take a look at how we can create more abundance… more beauty…more grace in our lives by going beyond the basic “fear and survival” mode…… how can we better sustain ourselves and our planet in the face of the constant fear of financial losses and material lack?  If we are stubbornly holding onto to old bad habits, this New Moon enables us to see where we have been “stuck” and to move forward. Venus says that Beauty inspires and heals us; music, art, and dance all nourish our souls. Tuning our frequency to higher vibrations through color, sound, and smell is a very effective way to “feed” our consciousness and move us out of the “fear” bands.

Taurus puts us in touch with our physical senses and our needs. Are we paying attention to the nutrients we place in our bodies? Are we honoring all our “relations”? This New Moon is a good time to have a massage, plant an herb garden, take a walk in nature and smell the flowers. Leave the junk food and sweets behind and make yourself (and your loved ones) a healthy home-cooked meal prepared with TLC. Find an essential oil fragrance, a brightly colored scarf, or crystal that appeals to you and create a “sacred space” in your home.

In addition to just being concerned with the quality of our daily lives, are we putting more heart into our relationships? Are we willing to love ourselves as well as our significant others….and vice versa. Are we willing to be more compassionate and tolerant in our dealings with others? Are we ready to take on the “mission” of creating a New Earth?

Taurus is also the symbol of the Egyptian Goddess, Hathor, as well as the sign which rules the constellation of the Pleiades. Hathor is the Goddess of love and beauty, music and dance, as well as astrology. She is the protectress of women in child birth, as well as the souls of the dead. She serves as a “gateway “or portal connecting us to the stars (the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades), as well as to Mother Earth. Indigenous cultures around the globe believe that our ancestors came from the Pleiades, and that we are all indeed, “starseeds”. This New Moon is the perfect time to “seed” our intention for adding more beauty, love and prosperity in our lives.

Venus is now moving direct in the sign of Aries (as of April 17th). Relationships issues move to center stage, as well as any creative projects, that have been on “the back burner”. Venus and Mars are conjunct (coming together) on April 21 in the last degrees of Pisces…the last degree of the last sign of the zodiac signaling a completion of the cycle and a new beginning. It falls very close to this New Moon on April 24th and fuels the desire to find more passion and creativity in our lives and to break out of deep, long-standing ruts. It is possible now to align with higher aspects of ourselves connected to multi-dimensional timelines. The “key” is always through the Heart; and at the end of this Piscean cycle, no matter what our religious or spiritual affiliations are, we will move closer to Spirit and deeper affiliations of “soul love”.  Karmic unions are very possible now completing issues that have been hanging around for many lifetimes. Be very conscious of who comes into your life or leaves) between April 17th and 24th, especially if you have one or more of your personal planets in the signs of Aries and/or Pisces.

The degree of this New Moon makes a challenging aspect to the last solar eclipse in the sign of Aquarius (on Jan 26th) and emphasizes the need for matching our ideals (Aquarius) with our current physical reality (Taurus). Mars is also making news as it exactly squares Pluto on April 26th. President Obama will face a tough time trying to hold the financial pieces together during this time. A new reality is being birthed in the collective consciousness towards the Earth, nature, money and the material world. EARTH DAY on April 22nd   is the perfect opportunity to envision a reality where we can live a simpler more sustainable life.

Also, on Earth Day, April 22, Mars makes its entry into the sign of Aries for the first time in two years. This is a terrific   time for launching new projects and raising the bar on physical activity. You can turn this high-octane force in a constructive direction to harness the passion and power it represents. Standing still, procrastinating, and going into denial are not desirable tactics, since that only increases the likelihood of being challenged by irritating individuals or frustrating circumstances.

As Venus in Aries also makes a challenging aspect to Pluto in Capricorn next month (May 2nd) our collective values go through a re-haul once again. (more on that next month with the Full Moon in Scorpio May 12th).
